Creating a welcoming and integrated community hub that meets the spiritual, educational, and social care needs of the Diocese.
Discover the meaning behind the logoThe Project represents a bold, long-term vision to create a welcoming and integrated community hub. It is about developing a purpose-built space that respects the importance of the local parish while serving the entire Diocese.
At its heart will stand a new Cathedral, supported by a mix of purpose-built facilities. Together, these elements will form a vibrant and cohesive urban village – designed to foster connection, service and shared identity.
Planning for the Hornsby Cathedral Precinct Masterplan has been a long-term and collaborative process, guided by these core principles.
Prioritising the visibility of the Cathedral as the key element, creating height transitions, and allowing visual corridors.
Integrating built form with natural elements. Preserving the Blue Gum Forest and extending it as a natural threshold.
Grouping compatible uses to support collaboration. Promoting the Civic Quarter (North) and Education Campus (South).
A central forecourt, raised shared surfaces, tree-lined streets, pocket parks, and a network of pedestrian walkways.
Building sizes that relate to context. Special structural markers to celebrate the Cathedral and Education entrance.
"We invite constructive ideas that strengthen both parish and diocesan needs."
"The Cathedral Precinct is a home for faith, a place for community, and a commitment to the faithful of today, and for future generations"
Most Rev Anthony Randazzo
Apostolic Administrator Diocese of Broken Bay
