Community Consultation

Thank you to all who have shared feedback. We remain committed to considering community input as an integral part of the design process.

Listening to our Community

Thank you to members of the Parish, our school community, care services and the broader community who have shared feedback on the project to date – whether through early conversations, our recent survey or attending the community drop-in session held in late November 2025.

We are proud to be part of this neighbourhood, and we hope the Hornsby Cathedral Precinct will reflect values and aspirations that align with those of the community.

On 26 November 2025, we hosted an informal drop-in session at the Light of Christ Centre, St Leo’s College. Members of the parish, school community, care services, and the wider local community were invited to meet the project team, learn more about the project, ask questions, and share their feedback.

We are grateful to everyone who attended and provided valuable insights and local perspectives.

Key Feedback Topics:

  • Traffic, parking, and road safety
  • Cathedral design and function
  • Potential impacts on neighbours
  • Environment and green spaces (Blue Gum Forest)
  • Construction process and staging

What Happens Next?

This feedback is being carefully reviewed and will inform the next stages of the design and planning process. A detailed summary of the consultation undertaken and the feedback received will be provided in a Consultation Outcomes Report, which will accompany the Planning Proposal once submitted to Council.

Parish & School Feedback

We asked members of the Parish, school community and Diocese care services for their thoughts on an early iteration of the proposed vision. We’ve been working diligently to consider and incorporate your feedback wherever possible.

"While we may not have been able to address every suggestion, we want to share openly how your contributions have shaped the project so far."

Frequently Asked Questions

How will my feedback be used?
Your feedback is being carefully reviewed by the project team. It will inform the next stages of design and planning. A detailed summary of the consultation undertaken and the feedback received will be provided in a Consultation Outcomes Report, which will accompany the Planning Proposal once submitted to Council.
Can I still provide feedback?
Yes. While formal drop-in sessions may have concluded for this phase, we welcome community input at any time. You can contact the project team directly via the 'Contact Us' page or subscribe to our newsletter to be notified of future public exhibition periods.
When will construction begin?
We are currently in the early planning and consultation stages. The redevelopment is a long-term project that requires approval from both Hornsby Council and the NSW State Government. Construction timelines will be determined once planning approvals are secured.
Will the Blue Gum Forest be protected?
Yes. A key principle of the Masterplan is "Landscape Driven" design. We are committed to preserving and enhancing the Blue Gum Forest as a public amenity and extending it as a natural threshold between the Civic Quarter and Education Campus.
